The following article describes the process to connect the Spider X physically to the Trotter DataVault via a serial connection.
Note: If for some reason the configuration fails, e.g. if the cable isn’t yet connected, a caution sign will display.
- The SX has one serial port so customers can have an ATU, GPI Cable or a Keypad connected, not more than one at a time.
- The integration is supported on Spider X firmware 4.9.1 and later.
- Existing DataVault customers will also need to upgrade the firmware on that (Please contact Trotter support if you experience issues with the firmware upgrade).
- This is supported on Spidertracks mobile app version 4.13.0 and later for both iOS and Android (released Jan 2023).
Once the Spider X and Trotter DataVault ATU have been physically connected via the serial port, users need to configure the SX to communicate with the ATU via the mobile app.
To do this please follow these instructions:

6. Under the External Device section, tap Add a device.
7. Select Trotter DataVault.
On the Advanced Setup page, the connected device will be displayed with either an info (iOS) or settings (Android) icon.
Confirming Successful Installation
1. Select Trotter Data Vault.
2. Select Device Settings and Diagnostics.
3. The diagnostic panel will display messages being sent successfully.
