The following article describes how to configure Spidertracks to receive and process data from AKV ETM1000 devices.
AKV Inc, based in California, USA, is a pioneering provider of aircraft engine trend and monitoring solutions.
Data captured from the AKV ETM1000 can now be automatically uploaded to the Spidertracks cloud to enhance fleet operations and safety streamlined data processing and display.
Integration Pre-requisites
Required Equipment:
- Spidertracks Spider X installed and running firmware v6.2.x or later
- AKV ETM1000 installed and configured for the Spidertracks integration;
Please check the AKV tech support site for the latest version of the document ETM1000 and Spider X Interface Supplement Rev x_x.pdf - An accessory serial cable is required to connect the Spider X to the ETM1000. Contact Spidertracks sales to order P/N: 2000PSL102 (Power and Serial Lead - 2m - Spider X to DB9 male).
Required Supports:
- A mobile device running the Spidertracks mobile application v5.6.x or later.
- A feature toggle in the web interface needs to be enabled.
Please contact support@spidertracks.com to request this.
Installation
If connected, unplug the Spider X power cable. Then connect the Serial Cable as follows:
- Plug A (M8 female) into the Spider X
- Plug B (M8 male) into the Spider X power lead
- Plug C (DB9) into the ETM1000 DATA port
Setup
After connecting the Spider X and ETM1000 serial ports, the Spider X device needs to be configured to tell the serial port that an ETM1000 is connected so that it will correctly process ETM1000 data.
Note:
- The Spider X and ETM1000 must be powered on to complete Setup.
- The Spider X can only support one serial integration at any given time. If the Spider X is configured for an AKV integration, it cannot support a Keypad or ATU at the same time.
This step is completed via the Spidertracks mobile app; Please follow these instructions:
1. Open the App and log in with the details that you used to sign up with on app.spidertracks.io (requires internet connection)
2. Tap More.
3. Select Spider Connection and connect to the Spider X.
4. Tap Connect to pair with your Spider X.
5. Select Advanced Setup.
6. Tap SERIAL DEVICE.
7. Select AKV ETM1000.
8. Check the device connection status:
9. To debug the serial connection, select Device Settings and Diagnostics.
10. The DIAGNOSTICS section shows a real time stream of serial data being exchanged between the ETM1000 and Spider X. Messages from the ETM1000 are in black, and responses from the Spider X are in red.
Verify
When the Serial Integration status is 'Normal' AND the Spider X has a green status indicator, the Spider will be passing Start and Engine Totals to the Spidertracks platform. These can be viewed in the History page table.
When the Spider X has cellular data it will also be streaming ETM1000 engine parameters to enable future features (display on Flight Explorer chart; detecting exceedance events for Insights subscribers).
