How To Setup the Spidertracks DZM Iridium Voice Service

You can use your Flightcell DZM/DZMx device or a Satellite Handheld device to make phone calls and send text messages over the Iridium Satellite network. This works alongside your Spidertracks subscription with any existing Spiders you may have.

Setup

To set up Spidertracks DZM Iridium Voice Service, please email [e-mail] with the following details:

Aircraft Registration
DZMx IMEI	Found by going to Menu > Diagnostics Menu > Sat Device Details
DZMx Serial Number	Found by going to Menu > Diagnostics Menu > Firmware Version
Firmware Version	Found by going to Menu > Diagnostics Menu > Firmware Version

 

Steps to configure Spidertracks Iridium Voice on your FlightCell DZMx.

1. From Spidertracks you will receive a dedicated SIM Card that will need to be inserted into your FlightCell DZMx unit.

2. SIM cards are installed in the SIM card tray inserted in the back of the DZMx. To install SIM cards:

a. Undo the screws securing the SIM card tray and remove the tray.

b. Preferably place the tray on the edge of a hard surface such as a table or book.

c. Position the SIM card with the bevelled corner (circled in the drawing) forward and contacts downward, then slide the front edge into the recess in the front of the tray.

d. Tilt the card downward until it clicks into the groove in the tray. Insert the tray into the slot on the back of the DZMx and secure it in place with the two cap screws.

3. By default, voice calling is enabled for all modems, except for the Iridium 9603 modem, which is used for SBD messaging only, and the 450 MHz cellular modem, which is for data only.

4. Please test your device by making a test phone call (ideally in operational circumstances).

These terms define the level of Service and the set of services available for the defined subscription plan. For general subscriber terms of service refer to Terms & Conditions.

• Duration - A Minimum Initial Term of 12 months. At the expiry of the Minimum Initial Term, the plan will continue for successive Renewal Terms of 12 months (subject to clause 7).
• Activation fee - None.
• Charges - Monthly service fee plus any overages if any outgoing calls and text messages above the included voice and text allowances.
• Increments - Voice traffic is billed in 20-second increments.
• SIM Card - An Iridium Voice SIM card will be supplied for each plan.
• Subscriptions - Each Iridium Voice-activated device requires a separate Voice subscription.
• Termination - A plan can be terminated at any time with 30 days notice up until 30 days before the end of the current term. If a plan is terminated during the term the remaining service fees to the end of the current term become due.
• Caller charges - Incoming calls are not charged to the subscriber, however, the caller pays a rate to call Iridium devices.
• No Rollover - Unused allowance does not carry over to any following month.
• No Pooling - Allowances are not pooled between subscriptions.
