You can use your Flightcell DZM/DZMx device on a Spidertracks subscription to track it within the Spidertracks application alongside any existing Spiders you may have.
Tracking channel selection
Multiple options are supported via the DZMx tracking settings. Refer to the DZMx Installation Manual for details on setup and retry options.

Satellite Tracking
Prerequisite for enabling satellite tracking with a FlightCell device. To utilise this feature, units must:
- Be fitted with an Iridium SBD only or SBD + voice modem. Most are, however some use 2 cellular instead of 1 cellular + 1 Iridium modem. This can be checked in DZMx Connect > About section.
- Be running Protocol version 3 or 4 on Firmware version 2.19 or greater.
- Have tracking settings updated to enable communications over satellite.
- Enable the 'Aircraft Power Up' message within the DZMx unit.
To do this, you will need to enable the installation menus first by going to:

Menu > Hardware Config > Installer Menu Enable and entering the pin which is 2468.

The Aircraft power up message activation is provided in Menu > Tracking > Triggered Events.

Steps to configure satellite tracking on FlightCell DZMx
In DZMx Connect > Settings > Tracking > Transmission: Select Try Sat first or Sat only as the tracking channel.
Cellular Tracking
HD tracking is available on the cellular network and means one message every 15 seconds over the cellular network while flying, versus one message every minute for Iridium SBD tracking. When tracking over the cellular network is enabled, then so is HD tracking, as per the installer manual.
Steps to configure Cellular Tracking on FlightCell DZMx
- Cellular data connection configured by way of the APN configuration in the DZMx Connect application > Settings > Modems > APN configuration as below for instance.
- Having a cellular tracking server IP and port configured + the Transmission Channel set to either ‘Try Cell first’ or ‘Cell only’ so to enable cellular tracking, in DZMx Connect application > Settings > Tracking > Transmission.
- Prerequisite for enabling Cellular Tracking with a FlightCell device. To utilise this feature, units must:
- Be fitted with a cell modem. Most are and this can be checked in DZMx Connect > About section.
- Be running firmware v2.13.0 or above.
- Be fitted with a SIM with a cell data subscription.
- Have tracking settings updated to enable communications over cell.
- Have cell settings updated to point to the Spidertracks IP address and TCP port.
