How to link Bluetooth LE tags to registered users.
To be associated with a flight, persons are required to either connect to the Spider X with the mobile app (logged in with their personal account), or to carry a Bluetooth ID tag that has been registered against their user.
This article covers sourcing and registering Bluetooth ID tags against existing members of your Spidertracks organisation.
Supported Tags
Spidertracks supports Mikrotik TG-BT5-IN and TG-BT5-OUT tags. Select the tag that matches the environmental and battery life needs for your application. Tags can be ordered directly from any authorised distributor, or through Spidertracks.
Registering Tags
Under the 'Admin' section, select 'Tags' from the 'People' menu:
On the Tags page, you will find a table of all existing users in registered within your organisation.
To register a Tag against a user, click the users row and type or scan in the MAC address printed on the tag. The MAC address has 12 characters, and these can be entered with OR without the separating colons, e.g. DC2C6E1303D9 or DC:2C:6E:13:03:D9
To edit a tag assignment, click on a row that already has a registered tag and revise the ID or remove so it can be assigned to another user.
Activating Mikrotik Tags
Tags are supplied in a hibernate mode to maximise shelf life. Tags need to be activated before use, after which they will begin broadcasting ID information every 5s for the life of the battery. Typical battery life at default settings is around 2 years.
Verification
At present, the person associated with each flight leg are captured at takeoff and only accessible via the Flights API.
To confirm the tag is activated, you can use the free Mikrotik app: Mikrotik Beacon Manger.
To detect/upload ID's, the Spider X must be running firmware version v4.23.12 or newer.
Please reach out to Spidertracks support to confirm your setup.
