Welcome to the team! If you’ve been invited to use Spidertracks by your organisation’s administrator, this guide will help you get started.
As a team Member, your main tasks are to set up your login, then learn how to view tracking information for your teams fleet. Let’s begin with accepting your invitation.
1. Accept the Invitation and Set Up Your Account
You should have received an email invite from Spidertracks on behalf of your Organisation. Follow these steps to join:
Click the Invite Link: Open the invitation email and click the “Join here” link. This link is unique to you and will take you to the Spidertracks sign-up page.
-
Create Your Account: If you’re new to Spidertracks, you’ll be prompted to fill in your details (name, create a password, etc.) as part of the signup. Complete the form and submit – this creates your user account and automatically links it to the Organisation that sent your invite.
Tip: The invite link will detect if your email is already registered. In that case, when you click the links, log in with your existing password (if requested) and you’ll be added to the Organisation that invited you.
Invitation Expiry: Note that invitations expire after 7 days for security reasons. If your invite link has expired, ask your admin to resend a new invitation.
Important: You must use the invitation link to join the Organisation. If you just go to the Spidertracks website and sign up without the invite, your account will not be connected to the team’s organisation. Always start from the email link so that you’re properly added.
2. Log In to the Spidertracks Web App
Once you’ve set up your account (via the invite process), you can log in anytime at app.spidertracks.io
Use the email and password you chose to sign in. The table below is a quick orientation of the features/pages available in the primary navigation menu of the web application and their purpose:
Navigation Helper |
Click the Spidertracks icon/logo to expand/collapse the Navigation menu. This is helpful when learning the various feature names and icons. |
|
Flying |
This is the landing page when you log in. The 'Flying' page provides an overview of the status, location and movement of the aircraft visible to your account. This page is primarily focused on real-time situational awareness and active Flight Following of live flights. NOTE: You will not see any Aircraft/Tracks until an Admin has given you 'Visibility' and the Aircraft has flown since then. |
|
History |
The 'History' page is where you review fleet summaries, and link through to detailed flight reports. Click on any flight in the list to open detailed view of the timeline, track and flight data. NOTE: You will not see any Tracks until an Admin has given you 'Visibility' and the Aircraft has flown since then. |
|
Spidertxt |
Spidertxt is a messaging feature for two-way communication between team members and aircraft (via internet and/or Spider device). Note: It will not be present if your admin has deactivated the Spidertxt module. |
|
Insights |
(Owner/Admin only) This section is visible only if the Insights Add-On Module is enabled (trial or subscription). The Insights page provides a flight safety and operations insights summary dashboard for fleets equipped with Spider X devices. |
|
Admin | (Owner/Admin only) This is where you create a new Organisation, or manage your existing Organisation’s setup (details, preferences, modules, users, fleet, notifications, sharing etc.).
Account | Manage your profile, display preferences and import custom map layers.
Resources | Find Onboarding Modules, Product Updates and general help in our Knowledge Base, all linked from our Resource Center widget. |
3. Set Up the Mobile App
You can track, communicate and more whilst 'on the go' using the Spidertracks mobile app. The app is necessary for using Spidertxt and other Spider features when in the aircraft, and is free for all Spidertrack members.
After you have logged into the web platform at least once (which creates your profile), you can use the Spidertracks mobile app with the same credentials.
Download the app from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Alternatively, if you are on a PC and want to install the app on your phone or tablet, you can scan the relevant QR code below:
Once installed, open the app and log in.
For a detailed overview of the mobile app’s features and navigation, see How to Get Started on Mobile Devices.
Important:
If you cannot log into the mobile app, make sure you have first logged in on the web as described above. New users must initialize their account via web.
If you run into issues, first check that your device meets the app’s compatibility requirements and that you allowed any permission prompts, such as GPS access, which the app needs to function.
4. Tips for New Members
Notifications: Ask your admin about setting up notifications or alerts. Spidertracks can send email or text alerts for events like SOS activations or other flight status changes.
Role and Permissions: Your role in Spidertracks (Member vs Admin) determines what you can do. The main features available to the Member role are viewing flight information, using messaging features and receiving notifications.
Support: If you run into any issues, you can reach out to your Organisation’s admin, search the Resource Center, or contact Spidertracks Support team at support@spidertracks.com.
Enjoy using Spidertracks! You can now monitor live flights on the map, review history, and communicate with your team, anywhere in the world - at your convenience.
It’s a powerful tool to stay aware of your fleet’s status and safety. Fly safe, and don’t hesitate to explore other features or articles to learn more.
