Two USB accessory cables are available to power the Spider X device;
- 2000PWR612A: This cable has two USB A plugs. See datasheet.
- 2000PWR612C: This cable has one USB C plug. See datasheet.
Selecting the right cable
USB-A ports have been around for longer, and are more common in aircraft than USB-C.
The USB-A cable accepts 5V input with a source current rating of at least 2.4A. The cable has two plugs to help meet this requirement in the case individual port current ratings are below 2.4A. If only one plug is needed, safely secure the second plug and keep the dust cap in place. If the second plug is not needed but a second port is spare, we recommend plugging both in for improved vibration immunity.
The USB-C cable uses a standard called USB-PD, or "USB Power Delivery", and requires the host is rated to supply 12V, and minimum 15W. Many aircraft USB-C outlets do NOT meet this standard yet, however many USB power banks do. This information is normally printed on the power bank. This cable option is therefore primarily to support install trials or cases where the Spider is not permanently assigned to a fixed aircraft. If using a battery bank we recommend researching battery safety, and sourcing a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) type power bank if possible.
